From afar, Lot T38 looked like a really nice car with nice options (silver/red, pano, PDC). Anyone have a clue what the mileage and Carfax history were? Just gauging if this was a steal or if there were mitigants.

Without the VIN it seems impossible to learn more about that car. At a minimum, I suspect it was a high mileage 55.

I'm a driver at the Mecum Houston auction for the last 5 years, and have driven a few Mercs across the block. As smithwn55 says, you need the VIN, which you can see if you are there in person. Then you would need a subscription to Carfax. We are cautioned every year about making remarks about the cars we are sitting in. We can tell people the mileage as shown on the odometer. But not about the condition, i.e. how are the brakes, did it start easily, etc. We might actually be talking to the seller and not know it. I'm waiting now to see if the Houston auction is canceled this year. It may not be up to Mecum to decide. I logged onto the Mecum site and saw T38. Nice looking but as poppyboy said, could there have reasons for the nice price....

Thanks for opining. I made a huge mistake several years ago when I bought an ‘03 Jaguar XK8 convertible at the Mecum auction in Schaumburg. The car ended up being the biggest piece of crap. You absolutely must do quick due diligence (i.e. have someone at home who can quickly use the VIN to pull a Carfax, etc.) in advance before committing to those cars. I once sat on a plane across from John Kraman coming back from the BJ in Scottsdale. He alluded to a similar recommendation.
