Window switch removal

I decided to replace my broken master window switch on my 2009 SL63 (r230) and had a difficult time find information on it and it ended up being far more complicated than it needed to be. After a lot of research I finally found some information but I was missing pictures to make it clear so here are the posts that I referenced and pictures to help. honestly if I had these pictures the entire job would have taken me about an hour on the high side for the first door.

- Link that I used to remove the door panel. Much easier than it seems. (I ignored the rest of the information about the regulator since it did not apply to me)
https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...side-door.html - Link I used for the door handle instructions the section from njcycleguy was super helpful -Thank you.

Keep in mind that the door pull that the switch is located in is what you'll be removing to access the switch. See attached picture that show you the 6 screw locations on the back of the door panel (you can only access it by removing the door panel) and the hidden screw in the side storage compartment on the door panel located closest to the door pull (see attached picture).

There are 2 slide releases/lock tabs that you pull to release the switch from the door pull. See attached pictures - make sure you note the orientation so that you'll put them back properly. (see pics)

Tools -
Torx bits
You'll also need 2 zip ties to reattach the wires to the door panels.

Good luck!

I was with you until the last two pictures. No idea what you're doing or where. Ok figured it out, the last pics are after you remove the door pull. I comes off with a little bit of a pull and a wiggle. Squeeze the slide releases in towards the switch then pull up to remove them. Of course getting the switch out of the door pull is a pain (like it was designed to never need replacing), but it is easy to put the new one in. Now what to do about all of the brittle broken cheap plastic inside the door panel. If your SL is old like mine (2003) and your panel is not exactly pristine, you will probable come out better buying a nicer door panel with a non broken switch. Where is that super glue.

Thanks so much!
Took me exactly one hour with these very helpful instructions. I had the large and small zip tie for the cable ready as well...

I find dealing with the door panel re-install the most tricky part.
Lifting the door panel back in, making sure the door lock pin slides properly through the panel....pushing the panel in and then downwards so the two wide black plastic panel hooks seat in the door....

Again, these instructions made it so easy.
