Has anyone checked out that SL65 that is for sale on ebay in Kansas? Just wondering the real condition of the car.

I have, posted about it over a week ago. Long story short it’s a POS being sold by a shady used car dealer. The exterior is sun baked, numerous scratches and small dents, faded window trim, wheels are rough. Interior is dirty and well worn, lots of scratches and flaws. It was throwing a persistent TPMS warning and halfway through my drive threw an ABC visit workshop warning that didn’t clear. When I returned the salesman stated that it “popped up one other time” and that his mechanic (at the dealership) said it was “no big deal”. I think the guy is hoping to unload it sight unseen to some sucker on EBay based on his lies and description. He normally sells cars at auctions like Mecum where people buy sight unseen and can’t test drive the vehicles, so this seems to be his MO.

Thanks for the reply. My current ride is an absolutely mint 09 SL550 with only 18k miles. I was looking for a project Sl65. So paint and wheels might take care of the exterior. Interior work would be required. Is the dash ok? Any cracks or blems? What other replacement interior parts might it need? The ABC issues really don’t scare me as far as repair. Did the car run ok? I wouldn’t pay 26 for a car with those issues but it might be a decent project for 15-18. That’s what I’m thinking anyway. THanks again.

I don’t recall any huge glaring issues like big dash cracks but there were a lot of little interior wear and tear issues. It did not present as a well loved car. I would say that from a high level engine and transmission standpoint it generally ran well but didn’t present as a well loved car.
