I do not have problems with other good cars - not at all - and even when a Renault Clio Diesel overtaking me on the French highway - I do not get crazy - cause I know what is in my car. I take life the easy way - stress is not good at all for me - so thats the way I live and drive.
If you think your SL600 Renntech is better than my stock SL65 - OK, you won ..... (honestly It is not that important for me) - but would really like to know how is the real performance of that "renntech car" ....
Kind regards from France

PS.: already 10.45 PM in here - and will have a second glass of Chateau Figeac 1990

Upset, naaa.....
Offended by your car, not at all. I will continue to be very skeptical about all of the claims that I see from Renntech until they produce a couple of shootout cars that don't have major mechanical problems and perform like they claim they will.
More tired of all the empty claims posted all over this board by some people that don't even have cars. The fact that you jumped through hoops to post pictures, shows you have more patience than I do.
I am not claiming to have any more than my 604 HP that I paid for.
I'll stick with the complete packageof the SL65.
The great news is we are all entitled to our opinions, enjoy your car.

Sheesh, all this controversy! I'll add a few facts from my personal experience:
My S600, bone stock: 461 RWHP SAE; 12.45 @ 114.3 in 1/4 mile (Sacramento Raceway) on 91 octane unleaded.
My S600, RENNtech ECU and drag radials: 524.6 RWHP SAE, 11.59 @ 120 in the 1/4 mile on 95 octane unleaded.
Clearly, there's no way the S600 puts down 493 BHP stock. I could believe 530-550 BHP, depending on what you assume for driveline loss.
... and now the rumors:
On the dyno, I hear the xx65 cars put down about 520 RWHP bone stock. Unknown what octane used for these runs, but I could believe 91 octane. So a SL65 should be as quick stock as a modified SL600, and possibly quicker on low-octane gas (more displacement == less boost & less knock @ same boost level)
Schiznick - if at all feasible, you're on for a dragstrip meet! Where in the country are you? Also - from where did you buy your SL65? I'm having a hard time finding a dealer in the SF Bay Area who will make a commitment on an order for one, and my wife and I intend to buy our own SL65 to live alongside our S600.

Treynor,
Enough said and thanks, My intent wasn't to hurt or **** on sl65 owners, it was to show a good alternative. As far as the sl65 owners paying sticker, I really find it hard to believe. Some of these guy don't have a clue in what kind of tunner Renntech is, but who cares. Lets meet them at a drag strip for pick sheets.. Ha ha!

When I review the whole thread, I can read out of your postings, that all SL65 drivers must be a little bit crazy, cause for less money it would be possible to get the better & faster car (if speed/performance is that important) Maybe I did not get it right - sorry, cause English is not my mother tongue.

I DO not feel attacked by your postings at all - but I do not know the reason for such a speed/power discussion at all. It is like kids comparing their toys, or teenagers are comparing the length of their xxx. I believe most of the members here are above this age, and just enjoy the car they drive, like to share their experience, or get some help in technical questions ... etc.
I wish you all a nice day - and kind regards from the French countryside

Who is FAster...
SL 65 uses the same motor as Maybach but enlarged to 6.0liter...and has 612 European Hourses and 1000Torgue (0-100km mph62) in 4.2sec's... Stock SL has 500HP's and 800Torgures does 0-100km in 4.7....
So stock S600 or SL600 both have 500HPs....it's the de-tuned version of Maybach's 5.5 v12 which puts out 550HP...So with increased boost as it mentioned on Renntech site from 14.5PSi to 18PSI...Treynor Renntech with tuned ECU, S600 puts out claimed 553HPs...like Maybach...and 11+ 1/4 times is with slicks...
Brabus has a SL6.3 liter 640HPs... 1100torgues...and runs 4.1 to 100km....12.9 to 125mph...
The most POWERFUL SL out there is made by Opera Design (BMW tuner Hamann outlet) their SL puts out a 718 HPS and does 0-62 (100km) in 3.8 sec's...
The rest you guys think for your self...lets see what mods is done by Renntech...and if Treynors S600 has 50HPs less then SL600 Renntech has about 600Hps...
I smell something Fishy here...
and there is not info on 650HP conversion for SL600 by Renntech...only 625HPs and 745 Torgues...and that engine upgrade costs $6400...
http://www.renntechmercedes.com/spla...sl/r230sl.html
There is no chance that Renntech SL be faster then SLR...SLR does 0-125mph in 10.9sec...to remind you 640HP Brabus does 0-125 in 12.9sec...
So get an SL600 with AMG Alloys and bodykit add $6400...for Renntech ECU and Tranny Upgrade and you will have a same CAR...but probably chaper then 174K...

M5 rus,
Read the dyno sheets by renntech. It spells out the car. The Dyno sheet has been listed on this sight with factual numbers, If you can build the car for 174K with the mods I will buy all you can offer. Factual price including taxes and cost of wheels and tires.
Thanks
