SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Renntech Sl 600 (650hp and 790lbs-torque!)

Renntech Sl 600 (650hp and 790lbs-torque!)
I built this car 3 months ago, and the car is a real beast. (It is forsale) The numbers listed above are factual. Documentation from Renntech will be provided for the person that buys this car, The car has 2800 miles it and it will do 0-60 in the 3's and the 1/4 in the 10's. Yes it is faster than a SLR and the 65. ( No question about it!) The car's transmisson has been beefed up as well. The Maybach motor is a better motor than the AMG's. Don't be fooled by advertising! The Car has the same AMG 5 Spoke wheels that the SL 65 has and has V12r on the back of the car too make it special. Car is Silver/Charcoal. It rides tons better than the AMG models and is a real head turner. The car list with all mods is $174,000. Offers over that number will be taken seriously. Photos can be e-mailed, but not loaded into this system due to compression of files. If anybody is interested I will e-mail them photos.
I am a huge car enthusiast and I build cars every 2-3 months.
Good luck,

AMG GTC Roadster, E63s Ed.1, M8 Comp. Coupe
0-60 in the 3's and the 1/4 in the 10's?
I guess that sounds too good to be true and probably is. It certainly would make it the fastest Renntech to date. How about some posts of the print-outs...
Also, can you describe the updates in a bit more detail? I thought that Renntech's transmission uddates were done with AMG parts?

Renntech sl600
This car from the factory came with 575hp and Renntech's numbers of 11.3 I think were posted using an S 600. High 10's should be achievable basied on best possible launch. I have not run the 1/4 as of yet, but torque and HP rating should push these numbers.
According to Renntech, I have the hotest car dynod before and after mods. Yep, Mods had to made to handle the Torque similar to sl 65.
Thanks

3.3 with pilots and feathering acceleration. If I had slicks I think it could get into the High 2's. Maybe its wishful thinking, but 790lbs of torque creates havic to traction.

Sorry Smoothdaddy
Dear Members
When I hear / read something like this I just want to through up indeed ......
Means, all these engeneers at AMG / Affalterbach are stupid idiots - cause with just a simple "Renntech upgrade" for a couple of US$ - you get a better car than a SL 65 ??
Unfortunately I am based in France - otherwise I would love to drive a few thousand kilometers even - to have a race with this "tuned" SL600 ..... of course with the vid-cam to show the results online - how THIS car performs against my stock (unlimited) SL65
Now I have about 9.500 km on my SL (6.000 miles) and I never met a car in Europe which was able to stay even close to me on the German highway or small local roads in the French countryside - and I AM NOT a RACER !!
BUT MOST IMPORTANT this thread is in the wrong forum cause IT IS NOT A SL55 or a SL65, it is just an ordinary SL600 ...... :p
This should not be an offense to the starter of this thread - more likely it is a statement from a happy SL65 owner - who knows what he purchased with an AMG. ( including slip differencal, strong gearbox etc. )
"Smoothdaddy" have you ever been at Affalterbach, and had a look on the production of the SLR and SL65 engines (which are built in the same area) ? No, then you really do not know - how AMG is building their engines - and you should compare this with the stock engine of the SL600 which is build on a line for 1000 of models. THE AMG engines are built by one man only with almost no time limit !! with special selected items in terms of weight and tolerance - not mass products as used in an SL600 engine...
Kind regards from France

Walter,
I have owned Probably more AMG models than most. ML55 CL55 to name a few. I agree the AMG models are very nice cars, I also know about the manufacturing process of each engine and how special they are. Great gauges interiors, better shift points and body cladding.
But let me make it clear to you that in this case you are mistaken in thinking that a 600 motor is inferior to your AMG product. Before you blow a gasket and think that AMG puts out a superior product to mercedes, I really would think about it and look at what Mercedes is doing with this particular engine. The motor in the SL 600 is the exact same motor in all MAybach Cars . Its tolerance sand testing procedures on this specific motor has been tested to the point it puts AMG to shame. The motor has been tested for millions of miles unlike the motor that is in your car. To make it embarrassing for you is that this motor actually has almost as much power as your car stock. You just happened to pay a premium in buying a car with special badging, wheels ,instument panels and shift patterns. Mercedes and AMG have been working together to try not to compete with each other. In this cause oops, the motor in the 600 is a lot more powerful than advertised!
Renntech can modify your car to match the power rating of my car, but after paying the extra money , my car wil probably be as fast or faster. I can assure you other People think it looks as good. (3000 hits in 5 days) Your right it still is not an AMG, but in this forum I want to show there could be a better alternative with a car that has a Maybach motor. Sorry to offend you, but People have asked for a straight up trade for my car against a 65. Why should I?

YOU do not offend me at all ! I am a normal European - and everybody is welcomed to have his own oppinion !
But you are aware of the fact that the maybach engine only has 5,5 litres and the sl65 has about 6.0 litres ?? OK ......
I do not have problems with other good cars - not at all - and even when a Renault Clio Diesel overtaking me on the French highway - I do not get crazy - cause I know what is in my car. I take life the easy way - stress is not good at all for me - so thats the way I live and drive.
If you think your SL600 Renntech is better than my stock SL65 - OK, you won ..... (honestly It is not that important for me) - but would really like to know how is the real performance of that "renntech car" ....
Kind regards from France
Walter
PS.: already 10.45 PM in here - and will have a second glass of Chateau Figeac 1990

MBWorld Fanatic!
As another SL65 owner, I am going to have to side with Walter on this one.
Who on this thread besides myself and Walter has driven an SL65?
This board is great for reading about my tuned car does 3X or 0-60 and makes 80000 HP thanks to some computer tweaks.
I am also very amused to read all of the discussions about the SL600 cars being so underrated. I seem to remember the TUV forcing AMG to raise the SL55 HP rating because it was testing to high for what was advertised. If I remember correctly it was from 476 to 493 but I can remember. I hear about all these SL600's that are making 550 - 570 HP stock and magazines that test them at 3.2 0-60. Come on, simple physics tells another story, look at the Enzo. Don't believe everything you read. As I have posted before, I have driven and Sl55 and an Sl600 back to back and the stock Sl600 was not much if at all faster. For that matter I doubt that a stock Sl600 could beat a stock E55 to 60. Again, i'll offer gas money at the drag strip of choice where we can put this together.
Is a tuned SL600 better than an SL65, don't know don't care, better is in the eye of the beholder. What I do know is that I have faith that if an extra 100 HP was just a tweak of the computer, then AMG would not hold it back from us.
Also, please post your latest drag stip slips from Renntech. The truth is in the numbers. In my humble opinion, the only way to compare two cars with a dyno is to use the same dyno on the same day. Track numbers are much better to illustrate cars performance in a straight line.
Someone spent $174K on a tuned SL600. I spent $189K on an AMG SL65. The tuned SL600 is just that, a tweaked SL600 with minor modifications and an aftermarket warranty if you are lucky. By the time you pay Renntech to tweak your SL600 to reach the performace of an SL65 you could have bought one, from the factory.
The SL65 is a complete and tested unit with proven success and a factory warranty. As you all know, the SL65 is far more than just an SL55 with a V12 engine.
Overall, if someone offered you even trade for an SL65, you better take it and fast! Oh yea, and make a tape of what it looks like ahead of you on a 0 to 186 mph run.
I think we should all spend less time posting and more time driving our cars! With that, I am off for a spin in my SL65
Best Regards,
Schiznick

schiznick,
I guess by reading your thread, you have taken offense to my car. I think if you take the time to read the dyno sheets by Renntech you will see the power of the car. The 1/4 mile times of 11.3 are posted by Renntech . They are for an s600 and the car was making 50 less hp and 50lbs less of torque. Hey, if the numbers on their web site doesn't satisfy you or the dyno sheets, I really couldn't care. Its very simple, you got a steel if you only paid 189k for your 65 when most are going 60-80 over list! Good bargaining skills. As far as a straight up offer, I am not interested in a trade, with a car that has less power and is over rated. Not that I think the 65 is a bad car. I could afford it, but I can easily beat it with my car and it looks just as nice or better. Most of all it rides better for every day use . Its simple, don't be upset if my car has more power than yours. Hey, if you think you've got what it takes, lets see a dyno of your car( anywhere under your conditions and we see who is talking crap) Your car can go 186mph? Wow! You will still be in my rearview mirror since my car has the second limiter removed and top speed is in excess of 200mph. You need to know what your talking about or better yet prove me wrong.
