Any experience with VRP Stage 2 or 3 for 2004 SL55 ???

Hi everyone, I’m looking into a VRP stage 2 or possible stage 3 for a 2004 SL55. The car as it sits right now is all stock. I want to change the sound a little especially when on full throttle , but don’t want any drone while cruising,( if possible) and some extra power. Anyone has used any of VRP’s kits? Any recommendations? Thank you.

Both look like killer packages.

Agreed, they look like good packages...I’m just wondering how well they perform. I would sure like to hear some feedback from the guys who run any of these kits.

It all depends on what you want. If all you want is more sound and a little more power you can spend very little and get your resonators removed. Then get an 83mm pulley and tune. If you want it a little louder get an x pipe and delete the secondary cats.

those packages include parts that are used by hundreds of people on the forums so just search in the e55 section for reviews. I would start with a pulley tune and some exhaust modifications and see how you like the new feel. If you still want more you can go to the next step (headers, TB, more cooling, smaller pulley, etc)

Thanks for your input Amir. Any idea if getting and x pipe and deleting the secondary cats will result in drone inside cabin while cruising ? I just want the sound when is wide open...if possible. Also, is there a significant difference between a 83mm pulley and a 76mm, for example?

yes there are videos all over YouTube that give you the exact sound. You won’t get any drone from an xpipe and deleting the secondary cats.

also if you go with a 76/77mm pulley you will need to add cooling mods (secondary heat exchanger)

Great info. Thanks again. I was thinking on working on the exhaust first but just wasn’t sure abut “ droning”. It looks like a good place to start. Thanks again.
