Updates to SL65
Does anyone have information on SL65 updates such as 4 valve engines with direct injection and use of the 7G transmission??? I've read about an enlarged engine(possible N/A 6.9l).

Where did you read this ?
The 7 speed transmission is not able to handle the power and torque of the SL65 engine. As well there is absolutely no need for two more gears with this engine. (did you ever try a SL65? )
There will be a normal aspirated engine in the CLS modell (CLS 63) but this is not an upgrade on the 65 engine. Maybe you mixed up something ??

Walter, a while ago I heard that the 7G tronic will eventually be re-inforced to handle more torque, as was done with the 5 speed. Apparantly it would be able to cope with 1200nm, which would allow the full potential of the 65 engine to be used. However, I have not heard any signs of this new gearbox coming for some time. The 06 model perhaps?
PS. By the way, did you consider reduced fuel consumption when you said the SL65 does not need two more gears?

2003 CL55 AMG
Mercedes is moving to the new 4 valve per cylinder engines for the V8, a move which makes the tuners at AMG VERY happy. We will start seeing them in the '06 models complete with Direct Injection which will imporve power greatly. Not sure what we will see for the V12 yet.
A reinforced 7G trans will be fitted to the AMG's eventually we hear.
