WEISTEC BILLET OIL CAP BLING FOR M113K
I got it last night! Just wanted to add some bling to my engine bay. I haven't found anyone else who has done this conversion and went into it blind. I learned a lot and hopefully my experience will answer some questions. I did as much research as I could for a week. The cap obviously does not have the stalk attached on our OEM oil caps. Their website just says: NOTE: Designed for use with Mercedes revised filter stalk (A 112 180 07 10) found in later model M113K engines. I wrote them and was advised the OEM stalk just pulls off and attaches to their cap. (I have heard these famous last words before from other applications) I found a thread online that solved the mystery of the extra "5th" O-ring that comes with new oil filters for our cars. The stalk does detach by yanking on it carefully but forcefully sideways. This however breaks one or more of the alignment tabs on the cap.
I spent an hour trying to figure out how the OEM stalk is supposed to attach to the the Weistec cap - no bueno. The OEM stalk is attached to the OEM cap with 8 prongs. The Weistec has 6 short ones. What am I missing? I fired off an email to their Tech guy and waiting for an answer. If anyone has some insight I'd love to hear it. My educated guess is their cap obviously is compatible with a different OEM filter not the on for my M113K motor.

OMG - Weistec is just not getting the issue. They keep insisting the stalk should click or snap on. I'm not an engineer but just looking at the pieces and how things attach - there is no way this cap will work. I even sent a video to show how that darn thing has no way to attach to their cap. The stalk has 8 tabs and the OEM cap has 8 opposing tabs. The Weistec has these 6 knubs that they say are for oil passage.

I figured it out with the help of the correct tech guy. Many emails later he finally verified the filter/stalk simply needs to be dropped into the engine housing - I made sure it made a snap noise and then the cap just screws on with correct OEM torque spec - 18 ft. lbs. So you have to get it out of your head this system does not work the same way as the stock set up. The cap seals fine, it just doesn't attach to the Oem filter stalk from the get go. Had I known this, I would have finished this job in 10 minutes. I suggested they update their webpage so there is no confusion or frustration for future customers.
