Hi All,
After a lot of digging here and on YouTube it appears that no one makes a x-pipe component that would allow for a the removal of the secondary cats, and it be welded/bolted in its place. I'm doing LTH's and would like to remove everything to the mufflers and replace with 3" 304. I know all of that will need to be fabricated by a shop, but I was hoping to find an x-pipe somewhere that I could pre-purchase vs having made custom.
I guess my first question is, does anyone know of a x-pipe system? Second question, if I do need to have it custom fab'd...what would you guess the cross section of the X be? I was thinking around 5"
As Always, thanks!
EDIT: Third question....do the secondary cats with the crossover really do anything to restrict flow? Is a x-pipe really needed?

Thanks meadows, I don't know how i missed that bit of kit. Is the 2.5" diameter an issue?

I can’t answer that intelligently. Probably depends on your headers.Originally Posted by 6_Myles

I have a set of MBH long tube heads I’m procrastinating installing. I haven’t really researched it thoroughly to know what I’ll be tying into or what all I’ll be deleting.
Also, I'm finding not so favorable reviews of CKS, any forum experience?
Just go to a competent shop and have them make one for you. Who knows how fitment will be on a pre made one esp when paired with the MBH
that’s kind of what got me looking in the first place, there’s not a single exhaust shop in my town that will help. I called every euro car mechanic and they all want to do bolt on kits.

I'm about to have MBH LT headers installed in NC. If you're anywhere near me try CW Performance in the Raleigh area.
I don't understand why you'd remove anything other than perhaps the primary cats. The secondary ones don't really restrict flow and you can only get away with that change if you live in a state without tail pipe emission checks.

Thanks bill, I’m in asheville so Charlotte or Greenville would be closer but I’ll keep them in mind since it looks like I’m going to have to trailer it anyways.
I had planned on removing the resonators too, so instead of trying to patch in at three different places I was just going to run from the header to the mufflers

Call Curt at CW, he's the owner and tell him I sent you. I talked to numerous shops in NC before selecting this place for all my work. The guy knows SL55's like the back of his hand, actually has an SL 55 he races.
They're not just a performance shop either, they're MB experts and do all servicing, something else I really like about them.
