SL55 and the SL600

(This has been posted to the non-AMG side of the forums, aswell.)

I've been thinking of picking up an SL55 soon, but I've seen another alternative to it, which is the SL600. Are there any major differences in how they feel to drive as opposed to the other? I know that the SL55 feels sportier (to a degree) than the SL600, but would there be much difference other than one being a V8 and the other a V12?

I'm aware this probably looks rushed together, I'm sort of just writing what I can think of as I go.

From my research, one of the main issues seems to be reliability between the two. The SL55 supercharged engine seems to be fairly bulletproof whereas the V12 turbo tends to not be very reliable. Seems to have a lot more issues develop.

As for the cars, I’ve driven both and can’t really tell much of a difference. The power seems to come on just slightlyyyyyy different but not enough that you’d notice it significantly.

The SL600 certainly is more “exotic” given the twin turbo V12.

Both engines are bulletproof, but the V12 is more expensive to maintain, mainly due to the design in the coilpacks, you can't just replace one coil, you have to replace the entire bank if one of them is dead. Engine mounts are awful, need to remove engine to replace. Other than that, there are tons of high mileage 600 desginated cars you see. S600, SL600, CL600 etc.
