I would like to Dyno my car but don't know how to shut off the ESP totally. I asked my local tech and he doesn't know if it can be done.

Hello Idye

Then your local tech should go back to get some lessons at DC-MB !

Just take off the fuse of ESP - and "voila" it is done.

Kind regards from France

Here's a related question - how do you pick up the tach signal on the benz V12 engines? There are no spark plug leads to be found...

Thats because the engine has direct fire or coil over ignition. Bascially each cylinder or spark plug has its own coil to ignite the spark plug, whenever it recieves the message from the ECU. Hence there is no spark plug lead from a distributor. Look where the spark plugs are, you can probably intercept the small cable that connects to the coil.

Right, I understand why there's no traditional distributor / plug wires / etc. I dug around under the covers to find one of the signal leads to the coilover spark unit, in vain - wherever they are, they're pretty buried. I was hoping someone on the board can point me to an alternate pickup point.
