Load Separator Module
I have not fully investigated this yet but as a point of information.
My2004 SL55 AMG would not start (even though I keep both batteries on trickle chargers (since I sometimes don't drive the car for a month or so) and the batteries are ~4 years old). I jump started the car with a NiCad jumper and replaced the front/starter battery. Car started/ran fine BUT I had a red "battery-see workshop" light on start-up that I could by-pass by just changing the display on the speedometer.
This bothered me enough to take to my excellent independent shop which diagnosed a burned "load separation module". He said it is caused by multiple jump starts (not the case) or trickle charging???
Anybody else have this issue in the past?

Don't think you need to keep the trickle charger on the front battery, as the BMS will automatically charge the front (starter) battery from the rear (consumer) battery whenever it falls below a certain voltage. I keep a trickle charger on my rear battery (I have done this for years) and never had any problems. Car is 2003 SL55.
