Planning on a smaller supercharger pully but I'm torn about the mandatory software. I have a 2005 SL 55, my thought is that the ECU will make the necessary modification for the smaller pully, Any thoughts?

Get the software it does more than just the pulley alone

You should absolutely have a tune with a pulley.

it’s not worth doing one without the other. There is a failsafe built in so that if it boosts more than stock numbers, it dumps the boost. All you would do is over driver the supercharger, and still get the same power or worse(cause it will heat soak faster)
