Distronic Cruise Control issue (2004 SL55)
The Distronic cruise control on my 2004 SL55 recently stopped working.
Basically, the car will display a message saying that Distronic is unavailable and it stays that way until I restart the car. The error message only displays after a few minutes of driving but it comes on consistently every time .
I tried cleaning the sensor and the grill thinking there might be some interference but I’ve had no luck. Has anyone else had this issue? I was thinking about ordering a replacement sensor but I figured I’d ask here first.

It ended up being a bad sensor, the one that sits behind the front grill.
I ended up just ordering a replacement sensor from eBay for $75 and now my Distronic cruise control works perfectly again.
Installation was pretty easy. It only took like 15 minutes to replace.
