My car was exactly 2 years old on 26 September and, exactly on the day, I started getting a 30 day countdown for a Service A - "Service A due in XX days". So it looks like there's a two year time limit, initially reset when the car goes through pre-delivery inspection, which kicks in if you have not reached the mileage limit. Up to then, the car was saying it needed service around 11400 miles but the time limit has now over-ridden it.

This 2 year time limit is a standard feature of the ASSYST service system.

Took mine in for an oil change in September (I change oil at least once a year). Before the change the message was "2200 miles to service A". After the change the message was "20 days to service A". The car was built in January 2003, so I don't know why it triggered.

I'll take it back in January since a variety of things need servicing at the two year mark.

I was slightly concerned about being hassled for being over the service A (according to the message), but the dealer said that as long as the oil is fresh not to worry about it.
