Hi folks! I'm new here, and am the new owner of a 2005 SL65 and have enjoyed spending some time absorbing some of the vast knowledge documented here.
I'm planning on some modifications to this car and have a question regarding ECU tunes - I was leaning towards getting one from Eurocharged maybe at some point, but was curious if that "overwrites" any mods I might want to do via SDS/Xentry (eg enabling the dash clock to be set from the steering wheel, etc, etc). I asked Eurocharged directly and got a "probably not" as an answer, and was hopeful someone on the forum here might be able to answer more definitively.
I understand the process entails downloading a profile/configuration via the MyGenius device, and sending that file to Eurocharged for them to overlay their mods on top of - so I'm not worried about losing the settings the previous owner has had applied, but more so the possibility of losing the settings I make after the tune, if I need to go back to stock for a smog check etc.
In summary -- If I do an ECU tune, then eg remove ABC and set it to not present via SDS, then use the MyGenius to restore my stock profile, do I need to redo that setting in SDS? Does that data live in the ECU profile or elsewhere?
Thanks!
Eric

First of all, a engine tune concerns only the engine module Mapping SW and SCNOriginally Posted by eric5292

so never ever anything else will be change
so your Tune plug should read what the Engine ecu has, overwrite it, replace software
same for if you restore
It should put back what it had
there is nothing like clock or so in the engine module
