C&D Supercar Challenge

Not to start another battle....

I find the results of the challenge very interesting.

RENNtech CL55 Cost 189,860

HP 625
TQ 620

12.7 @ 117 MPH

Kleeman 55K3 (SL55) Cost 164,338

HP 630
TQ 690

12.5 @ 114

RENNtech SL600 Cost 174,000

HP 640
TQ 770

11.8 @ 121

All these 600HP cars with little performance gains. I know that the 1/4 mile only tells a small part of the story.

As a point of reference, my stock E55 on stock rubber was running 12.4 all day long would have placed better than two of the Supercars for that part of the test.

If these cars were really making 600+ hp, should the times not be better?

Treynor, if you are seriously going to get the RENNtech SL65 mods done I can't wait to see the results. I am taking my car in for baseline dyno runs next week.

Enjoy! Just can't resist!

I also found this to be a little fishy. My E5Slow runs 12.3-12.5 all day like your's schiznick and I would assume that those beasts would run even faster. Could it be that there is so much torque that they aren't hookin up right? Could that be the problem. I am guessin that those cars could be or should be able to run 11's no problem...

The article mentioned that they conditions in which they tested would suck a few 10ths and MPH off of normal times. Hell, my RENNtech S600 ran 12.5 @ 115 in the C&D test... at 1500' of altitude with the air temps reading 101F That same EXACT car ran 11.98 @ 121.3 at Sacramento at sea level in 60Fweather. You can't compare uncorrected figures.

Scott - I'd say 80% probability for the RENNtech mods, and I'll certainly post! I need to get a baseline run in, but every '65 I've heard of gets 520 +/-5 RWHP stock on 93 octane. It makes sense -- AMG dynos each engine they build, and they're all supposed to make spec power.

Interesting side note -- 604 BHP and 520 RWHP == 14% driveline loss. Cross check - my S600 stock made 461 RWHP SAE... which would be 540 BHP using a 14% loss figure. Sounds about right.

Every stock SL55 runs that. Must be a mistake or typo or something.

The real #'s to look at are the 100-150mph acceleration times. That will tell you if the car is really making the power they claim.
