Right seat airbag light in speedometer on 2012 R230
I am in the unenviable position of having a 2012 r230 SL63 held up in customs coming from Canada into the US, the purpose of the hold up is the US DOT and NHTSA stating that there must to be a light for the right airbag function in the speedometer cluster. This particular model has an SRS on the tachometer, and it has the right airbag function light in the center consule 5 o’clock in relation to the two round air conditioning vents.
Every 2011/2012 SL owners handbook that I see shows different speedometer/tachometer clusters all of which show an SRS light oriented superior one o’clock on the tac gauge, the same as the vehicle that I have. The images from the owners manuals, US agree, there is no desperation is Can v US on these items in the hand book. I just was speaking at length with USA Mercedes customer care, they seem to feel the same way. Does anyone have a US purchased 2012 R230 SL 63 that has the right airbag warning light in the speedometer cluster and not in the center consul region? All I’m trying to do is get my car across the border, if a speedometer cluster exists with this particular light, that’s great. I’ll suck it up and swap it out. Thanks in advance. This is the photo uploaded by us dot/ NHTSA, my frustration is there being no reference to its existence withi the speedometer in the owners manuals and the same manual shows the light in the center console.
