SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL55 Manual Swap Parts List & Shops
Been watching both Tavarish & Jikjags YouTube videos on doing this manual swap on a SL55 AMG...
Both have stopped their projects and abandoned them...
But seeing as it's 2024 there should be more information on how to do a successful manual swap thats guaranteed to work,
So on this thread we want users to post the parts they would use on such a project,
new clutch, flywheel, shift assembly, and pedal assembly even turbo parts too to get more then that 500hp stock M113K engine,
Also post any garages that would take this project on, also electrical garages that can tune the ECU and electric components and so on after the manual swap...
Hopefully someone figures out finally how to make this happen
Happy Posting 😁

Member thinks he has the drivetrain mapped out...
"Transmission is just one part of the equation, you gotta plan for a full drivetrain!I'm currently researching what transmission platform would be best for the M275. My feelings are pointing me to the Tremec T56 Magnum lineup, but even those need some upgrades to survive the torque generated from the M275 (600-800 lb ft)
Aftermarket builders can prep these gearboxes to reliably run 1000 lb ft drag cars with hard launches 700 lb.-ft. (949 Nm) of torque capacity out of the crate Non-integrated bell-housing, so modification or manufacturing is easier. 2x gears options.
Option #1
1st - 2.66
2nd - 1.78
3rd - 1.30
4th - 1.00
5th - 0.80
6th - 0.63
Reverse - 2.90
Option #2
1st - 2.97
2nd - 2.10
3rd - 1.46
4th - 1.00
5th - 0.80
6th - 0.63
Reverse - 2.90
The Tremec T56 comes in 3 different lengths, all have integrated shifters into the tail-housing (doesn't require the shifter to be tied into the body) Whatever transmission anybody ends up using,
I strongly suggest the use of a variable clutch flow control valve, because these engines will absolutely shred drivetrain, if you try any clutch dipping or kicking."

Using jikjakz E55 manual swap as a reference - as highlighted in the video he keeps the automatic shifter in the center console & wires the new manual shifter to it
Video highlights that the manual is working when he shifts to 1st then reverse then he's test drives on the road 🚗
Wonder if the swap on SL55 could be done similar 🤔

As most posts & threads previously have been made after people saw those YouTube vids... In which the projects have been abandoned years back...
Made this thread to see how close members can make an actual swap possible with their ideas and use that a basis for a complete swap hopefully in the end.
Flywheel
A flywheel is the part of a manual transmission that connects to the engine.
Clutch Disc
A clutch disc is the portion of a manual transmission that connects to the transmission.
Pressure Plate
The pressure plate applies pressure to the clutch disc in order to engage and disengage the clutch.
Pedal Assembly
The pedal assembly refers to the pedals inside the car that allow you to communicate with the clutch and the engine.
Clutch Fork
The clutch fork is the part that applies pressure to the throwout bearing.
Throw out Bearing / Slave Cylinder
The throw-out bearing presses against the center of the diaphragm spring, causing the pressure plate to push against the clutch disc.
Clutch Alignment Tool
This is optional, but there’s a reason these parts come with clutch kits. Using this tool will ensure that the flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate line up correctly.
Pilot Bushing
This piece supports the input shaft and clutch disc while allowing the flywheel to maintain an engine’s RPM even as the input shaft is slowing.
BoltsKind of goes without saying, but these are the pieces that secure everything. You will need a lot of them, in a variety of shapes depending on your choices.
Clutch Cable and Quadrant
You’ll need a way to communicate with the clutch, and a cable is important for that goal. The quadrant makes that cable adjustable.
Crossmember
This is the piece that holds the transmission to your car.
Driveshaft
The driveshaft carries power from the transmission to your car’s differential. Lengths vary considerably, and driveshafts come in a variety of materials.

Few have said this is possible just a few parts have to be customised to work...
