Question about the "real" power of the SL65

Hello guys,
maybe it`s the same annoying subject.....but can someone in here...tell me the real number of an SL65 AMG?????

from official AMG site

Engine specifications

Cylinders / arrangement 12-Cylinder-V-Engine,
3 valves per cylinder

Displacement cmģ 5980

Bore x stroke mm 82,6 x 93,0

Rated output kW(hp) at 1/min 450 (612) / 4800-5100

Rated torque Nm at 1/min 1000* / 2000-4000

Maximum revs 1/min 5950

Compression ratio 9,0

Mixture formation Microprocessor-controlled

injection system

two exhaust turbo charger

* electronically governed

Performance

Acceleration 0 - 100 km/h s 4,2

Top track speed km/h 250
(electronically governed) 21,7

If someone had for example ask the dealership to eliminate the well known "limiter" (if one actually can) what would be the new number of Newtonmetres (NM) and also the new figure of the Top Speed ??? I heard that if the limiter is eliminated........ the SL65 can reach 330km/h like a Brabus and Carlsson SL55 !!!!!!!
And one last comment.......can the SL65 be compared with Ferraris (Scaglietti and 575 M) and Lamborghini Murcielago\Gallardo and also with Aston Martin Vanquish V12 S and also Porsche GT3/GT2 in terms of engine power and car handling ?????

thanks guys and have a good day.

Where to start....

If they remove the limiter the top speed would change from 250Km/Hr to 300Km/Hr (Correct Walter?) I know in the US is goes from 155 MPH to 186. With it totally off a SL65 just ran 338 according to Auto Motor und Sport.

I typically do not compare my AMG cars to Ferarri's or Porshe cars. To me it is a great balance of performance and luxury as a daily driver.

The SL65 is a fantastic car for what it was built to do and can't be beat for raw power and top down cruising. If I am looking for hot laps on the track I will take my GT3 any day.

In a straight line not many of the cars you listed stand a chance keeping up on a long dash. The Bi-Turbo V12 lays down torque with the best of them. I also would drive many of them for more than a weekend at a time.

Enjoy!

AMG didnīt remove the limiter.
AMG "raise" the limiter to 186 MPH (300km/h), a fully derestriction is not available from AMG. In the AMS (auto motor und sport) AMG fully derestricted the car and ran 338km/h. I repeat: This is not available for customers!

SL 65 topspeed ........

Hello Schiznick
Hello Farhead

As already written above; AMG just raised the limit on my car - and honestly I did not try it once, since they have done this job. Maybe I am getting old ?? - 20 years ago, this would have been my "first job" to drive directly on an empty highway and test the car. Maybe because there are no empty highways any more ???

But it is nice to know, that the car would run that fast - there are sooo many things in life - you could do if you want, and this is just another one....

kind regards from france

Walter
