2005 SL 55 Transmission Oil Level

After completing a filter / fluid replacement I'm struggling to understand the correct oil fill level. On my dipstick I'm between the two marks 80C & 25 C markings with the transmission have been driven for 30 minutes. Tried to shoot the transmission body with my non-contact temperature gun with limited success. Any suggestions on doing this measurement correctly?

After 30min of driving, your transmission should be up to temperature, although I generally prefer verifying temperature via a scan tool.

The way I've set the level on a 722.6 is:

1. Cold fill to get into the 25C range.
2. Bring the transmission up to the 80C temperature threshold.
3. Recheck level and adjust (if necessary).

At 80C, this is where you want to be:

Happy to help.

Much easier to add fluid than remove it.
