First 2 weeks with my SL63
i put almost 3k miles on the car in about 13 days with only one hiccup (a brake caliper cover came off). My daughter and I drove from Chicago to Atlanta then Denver with many stops along the way. Thought I'd share some pics and driving impressions:
-i like the torque and acceleration
-my seats in my 993tt and clk55 are much more comfortable
-I cannot tell the difference in the ride comfort regardless of sport vs comfort settings
-I don't feel as confident at high speeds in this car as I do in my 983tt or even the clk55; could be familiarity but I don't think so. My other cars feel solid as a rock at 150mph; it a little tense in the SL63
-the car is much better looking in person than the pics. I gawk at it a lot. It's prettier than anything else at this price point in my opinion so I have a healthy "pride of ownership" which feels really good.
-torrential rain followed us from Chicago to Atlanta then New Orleans; a couple time I felt a drop or two of rain through the hardtop seam at the drivers window. Not happy about that.
-I really started enjoying highway cruising when I turned off the lane assist feature
-the Distronic is badass and saves my heel in slow bumper to bumper traffic. I didn't expect it to work at 5mph but it does and that's awesome
the stock radio (Harmon Kardon) is very very good but I want bass I can feel not just hear so this will be my first modification
-I got clocked at 118 changing lanes and ticketed but not arrested. Thank you mr nice TX state trooper. I think if I'd been in the 993TT or CLK55 I would have gone to jail. The SL63 conveys a bit of maturity and I think the trooper empathized with me that although my speed was egregious I wasn't "showing off" as would be conveyed with the other two cars I drive fast.
-I need an impeccably performing radar/laser defense for this car. Suggestions welcomed!
-the Nav CD is terribly outdated; the dealer says $250 and two hours for the update; looking forward to this. Apparently the '15 SL63 uses a SD Card and it's over $600
-I got an "add 1quart of oil light" was happy it only came on once and gave an excuse to check out the powerplant; but I didn't see the Mobil 1 sticker that is in my other cars; I put Pennzoil full synthetic in.
I like this car ALOT. But I'm building a list of mods as I make my way to LA. I will probably do the subwoofer, laser/radar defense, and renntech ECU upgrade as soon as I get back to LA. If interested I'll post updates here.

Yeah the lane assist had to go. Either drive the car, or don't drive the car, but do not touch my wheel while I'm driving. Beep at me, sure. But don't second guess me.
Distronic is cool in traffic. My only complaint is that I can't adjust it to a close enough follow distance for NYC Traffic. I imagine I'd have the same problem in LA, Chicago, (and Italy).
It is really only suitable where people like to follow the rules. Like Germany. Or Denmark. lol

Amazing so few owners on this site. Anyway glad to have a new enthusiastic owner. I too quickly turned off the lane assist. Best mod I made was installing the Sprint booster. Made the throttle response much better. Did the same to my M5. You don't need to mess with the ecu if you install the Sprint booster. Plenty of power already. I hated the stock wheels as I do most cars and replaced them with 20" Vossen/Work which someday I will post the pics. iMO it helps the cars aesthetic immensely. Glad to have you on board. Not many enthusiasts here. Such a great car, such a shame.....

Thanks. I'd love to see pics of your car! Next for me is removing the clock on the dashboard and replacing it with the Escort Max CI 360 indicator. I'm also adding 1 12" sub under the passenger footwell, 1 10" sub behind the drivers seat, the OEM B&O tweeters on the dash and am replacing the HK speakers throughout. Thanks for the tip on the Sprint Booster! I'll add that to my "Right now" list!
