Power Limit of 2013 SL65 AMG Tranny
Was just curious what the power limit of the new 7 speed auto that’s in the sl65 2013 and
up? There isn’t much info on this tranny or even it’s internal code name.
The old 5 speed handled 796 pound feet, so it’d be interesting to see if this one can handle even more.

the trans for the v12 is the 7G it is not the same as the 7 speed MCT that all the other amgs use

The MB warranted torque limit for both the 5 and 7 speed units in the V12 cars is 1,000N-M (newton-meters.) That translates to 738ft-lb of torque. Tuners can bypass that limit with current tunes for 7sp cars. The older 5sp cars were easier for tuners to reprogram. I am not aware of a specified power limit for the transmissions. The highest factory horsepower V12 cars were the Black Series SL's but even those had a max of 738 ft-lb torque. I had two of my older V12 biturbos tuned to supposedly slightly over 800ft-lb peak torque and put over 60k miles on both with no issues.
