Why no runflats on SL63
I had a 2013 SL550 which came new with Continental 5P MOE (limited runflats) from the factory. Rode and handled well. I have traded for 2013 SL63 which does not have MOE tires, but they are the same exact type labeled MO. So not “runflat”.
So why not? Suspension tuning, ride quality, grip, etc? I am just curious that the SL63 was not designed for these the same as the SL550.
Thanks for any insight on this.

I can't tell you AMG's reasoning but IMO they simply don't ride or handle as well. They are also noisier. Now add they don't last as long. It's easy for me to understand why.
Would be curious to see what you think about them (if you buy a set) when considering all the things I've mentioned compared to the non run flats on the 63 you have now.
Curious what tires you have now.
I don't know about your model year or the 550's but my '17 does not have a spare. You fill the tire with an air pump in the trunk that pumps sealant into the tire. No reason
for run flats. Still no tire change necessary.
The last tires I'd put on my SL are run flats.

I suspect the handling and ride are the issue for AMG. My 2013 SL550 had runflats from the factory. they and the current tires on my SL63 are the same, only the SL63's are non-runflat. I am not going to change that based on the fact the factory did not install them and it rides stiff enough now. I have the pump and sealant, but using it just adds $75 to flat to buy a new bottle, plus the repair/replacement. That is the way it works and I understand that.
