Tire Pressure Question R231
2017 AMG SL63 with Michelin Pilot Super Sport. 19 inch front and 20 inch rear
255/35/ZR19 (96Y)
285/30 ZR20 (99Y)
Drivers Door says 48 PSI Front and 46 Rear
Gas Cap says 35 Front and 33 Rear for speeds up to 155 mph unloaded
MB Service Center on the phone says follow the gas tank. Why is there a 13 pound differential between the recommendation on the door and the gas cap? Do I follow the gas cap?
THANKS! The tire sidewall says max pressure is 50 PSI. MB says the original equip was Continental tires. Live in warm weather Southern Calif. (where it never rains but it pours).

The drivers door pressures are just the maximum for that car, it matches the pressures on the gas cap door for max load at 186mph. Use the gas cap door pressures. My 2017 SL65 has the same sticker but I found 35F to be too low with the V12. I use 38F, 33R. The 35psi should be fine for routine driving with the V8. I am also in SoCal.

and look on the tire for its MAX air pressure.
When the car is running on a hot road, the pressure goes up about 4 lbs. leave enough tolerance for 5 or 6 lbs at hot temps

On most of the MB spec tires for AMG's (non run flat) the maximum pressure on the sidewall is 51psi. Just FYI, that is the cold pressure, not the hot pressure. For example, on the E63S the cold pressure listed on the gas cap door for 186mph and max rated load is 51psi in the rear tires, and as I recall 49psi front. I tried those pressures on my wife's E63S, it was not a pleasant riding experience on the local roads.
