Assistance needed

So i`m looking at a 2007 sl65 AMG that got flooded 2 inches above the carpet with salt water.
Supposedly needs harness and modules that were under carpet need replaced.
The dash lights up but it wont run.
I`m reasonably mechanically inclined so the work does not scare me too much depending on depth.

Car is in very nice shape and has sub 40k miles.
Do i run away fast or delve further?

Thanks
Steve

I suppose it depends on the asking price. Keep in mind though that the title may always reflect it as a flood car which will affect resale no matter how good a job you do.

What about in the trunk? Work up a list of items that need replacing and estimate the cost. Do you have physical access to the car to inspect it? I don't think I would consider it without a physical inspection or two.

Well I could probably get it for 8/9 k ish.
so far it's not known as a flood car.
Any clue as to what I'd need?

This place is a joke.
No offense, but If you're here asking this question that means you aren't prepared to handle this type of repair on an electrically complex Mercedes. I won't even get into the fact that many of the interior/electronic parts are no longer available for a 2007 230 chassis SL. Note I said 230 and you are posting in the 231 forum, like I said... you're not ready for this project.

Yeah you probably right. I'm just testing the waters..
DO you guys think the tranny could be water damaged as well seeing as it was submerged?
Exhaust was probably full also.

Yes, there's an electronic module on the transmission that controls shifting.

You could easily spend thousands fixing this car even if you did some of the work yourself. Even a non-flooded SL of that year could require lots of work and expense. There are some relatively expensive parts on the m275 V12 that may need replacement. Also, the ABC suspension often requires significant maintenance when it gets to be that old, regardless of miles.

Unless you have a lot of experience with SLs, I suggest walking away from this one.
