ABC header tank filter source in UK
Well the very obvious answer is Mercedes.............BUT........but when I call my local main dealer this service filter only comes with the whole header tank![](https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/styles/mbclub/smilies/wallbash.gif)
I find that hard to believe as the oil and filter should be changed every XX,0000 miles ! Rather makes a mockery of change the oil if you cannot buy a filter unless you buy the whole header tank
Still I read the filters now 3 micron so maybe that's a reason
Anyone have a source for them or the actual part number........
Even better a source for them in the UK
I will try direct to Mann and Mahle I believe they make all Mercedes filters anyway air or oil

Update........... I still cannot source one so I have asked AMG but no reply other than looking into it.

And it looks like what I saw on FCP Euro supports the previous version.
I did see on a Japanese site that they were using p/n 0031846101 (filter from the previous generation) but couldn't tell if it actually worked. In the pictures, the reservoir was open but that's about all I saw.

Hi Tom
Thank you for the reply
Yes I think its the same filter but MB redesigned the expansion tank which makes it far harder to change a filter. It also makes it harder to stop contamination when changing it hence saying its not for a R231 only a R230 you need a whole tank
I found on this or another website a link to this video on how to change it. I cannot find the thread tonight.
So I will get the R230 filter and change it over the winter when the cars not used
Thank you for the reply
