larger intercooler and air filter
Hey guys, does anyone of you outhere installed a lerger intercooler and a custom air filtration system. I am waiting for my Green Cotton tiwn cone air filter which replaces the stock air box. It is from Mercedesperformance.co.uk. HAs anyone dealt with them. I have info on SLk upgrades from Vath. They offer a larger intercooler which is 945 Euros. Mercedes Performance qouted a price of 1250 Euros for their intercooler. My friend Tom has installed one from Vath and he said it is a very noticable increase. Any thoughts or advice is most welcomed. Since I have to wait another 4 weeks to get my Supersprint muffler my friend is going to let me use his AMG muffler from his SLK. I am dying to see how it sounds now. With the header installed the engine is gasping for more air and the stock muffler can barely control the huge increase in back pressure.

My mech friend and I took on the header last weekend. It took us about 5 hours without a lift or any other help. I still am waiting for my Superpsrint muffler but I can tell that the engine sounds awesome and the stock muffler shakes from the back pressure. I bet when I get that Supersprint muffler that the performance increase will be really good. I am hoping for around 15-20 Hp. I also have the larger crank pulley installed and that alone has given me a huge boost. Next up after the muffler is a twin cone filter to replace the air box as the engine needs to breath and then a ECU chip upgrade from Powerchip. My long range goal is 250-270 without opening up the engine. I know when to stop!!!
