SLK/R170: Rattles

Rattles
I have this rattle behind my seats, in the concealed area below the black plastic that lifts to allow the roof to go down. Anyone else have this rattling?
A dealer is going to look at it monday, just thought I would see if this is a common occurance.

Are you sure it is not the black plastic shelf itself? I decided that was what was rattling on mine (mostly with the top up). The dealer cleaned and lubricated the seals all around and that helped a lot. I do still get an occasional rattle though depending on how bad the road condition is. Just put the top down and drive fast, then you can't hear it

CopperDesigno, take a look at you package shelf..........
It's magnesium, not plastic... :-) There should be at least two rubber "bumpers" on the trailing edge of it. If one or both are missing that's where the noise is coming from.

Magnesium, that's interesting. Rubber bumpers, I found a itme like that in my trunk after they rebuilt my car the first time and the second time (long story). I will need to see if they are there. Thanks.
