Thumbs up We're ON!!!!

Some Information From Cecil:

Our trip into the Gold Country is on! No bad weather is forecast
either.

As special treat, Pam Bain of Seattle, the founder of the SLK
Enthusiast Group will brighten up our caravan. Yes, she has driven her
beloved Sunburst Yellow SLK a few thousand miles from the Seattle area,
just to join us on our Gold Rush! Pam has the good taste to drive a car
matching the 49ers' treasure: Gold (smile). Maybe we can designate her
our Gold-Digger for the day (bad pun). She will meet us at the
Livermore start point. Even if you cannot make the entire drive, come
say hello and make her feel welcome.

Details for the day of fun driving and overnight (optional) have been
meticulously researched by Mike Dunnigan. Our meetings and drives
converge in Amador City from two starting points: Sacramento and
Livermore. We will start our SLK Gold Rush there and end for the day
(or night) in Columbia at the City Hotel. If you are planning to stay
overnight and/or eat dinner with everyone at the City Hotel, I need you
to email me. I have the dining room reserved on my credit card, so I
have to make a dinner commitment for us (number only, not menu). City
Hotel phone: 209-532-1479.

Here are the details for the SLK Gold Rush Drive:

Saturday, April 23rd about 11:30 AM or so. Our Rendezvous Rally Point
in Amador City is the Imperial Hotel. It is actually in Amador City,
which is about a mile and a half above (north) of Sutter Creek on Hwy
49. It is not open on Saturday morning/afternoons, however their
parking lot will still provide an excellent rally point for us. It is
on the left as you enter Amador City.
The plan is to eat lunch in Sutter Creek, spending some time there at
the 18th annual "Great Sutter Creek Duck Race" on Saturday April 23rd.
There will be festivities and food (read LUNCH) booths all around town.
Parking may be a problem. There is public parking behind the
storefronts. Turn left of 49 at Eureka and there are a couple of public
parking lots. There is also street parking but with the Great Duck Race
it will likely be taken early. Actual lunch site may change once we all
rendezvous.

After a ducky lunch or whatever else we discover, Mike will lead us
down the famed and fabled Highway 49 into Angles Camp and into
Columbia. Be sure to ask Mike about how the CHP framed him the last
time he was on Parrotts Ferry Road. It’s up to him if we go that way,
after all the CHP may still try to trap him again. We hope to arrive
about mid-afternoon at the City Hotel in downtown Columbia. We’ll
reconvene for dinner at 5 PM at the hotel. Your options afterward might
be to take a Ghost Walk or attend the professional melodrama or return
home but whatever it is you decide to do; it will be a fun trip.

Starting from Sacramento area (10:30 AM):
Meet at the Chevron at Latrobe Road. Take Highway 50 towards
Placerville, take the Latrobe Road exit, go East to Towne Center and
turn left. The Chevron is behind McDonald's. The Chevron has a large
parking area and there are several coffee/breakfast places close by.
Mike will be there around 10:15 having coffee. Leaving there around
10:45 for the Imperial Hotel for an 11:30 meeting then we can all
travel to Sutter Creek together. Mike’s cell phone: 916-213-9002

Starting from Livermore (9:30 AM):
Meet at the Jack-in-the-Box / Chevron parking lot. Going east on I580
(from the I680/I580 intersection), exit N Livermore Road, bear right
and take the first right into the parking lot (visible from the
freeway). Cecil will be there about 9:20. We’ll pull out at 9:40 to
Stockton, Waterloo, Clements, Ione, and Amador City: Imperial Hotel.
Cecil’s cell phone 925-963-1693
