Part of the illumination light behind the left side of my speedometer is shorting/burning out. Sometimes is is on, but most of the time it's out. Is this something I can easily fix myself or would it take a professional and the removal of the dash/gauge to correct it? Thanks for all replies.

If you've got a '99 like your signature says, it's covered under warranty, but do it before the warrant runs out.

I had to take mine to the dealer, because it looked harder than I wanted to work to do!!!! It would be nice to have a step by step book like Haynes or Chilton for the SLK 230. I am sure it would be a piece of cake with something like that.
