1998 SL 600 ///AMG. 1997 SL 320. 1999 SLK 230K. 2001 BMW R850.
Same old, same old. SLK roof problems, please help!
I have a 99 SLK 230K.
When faulty, the boot lid opens, the windows retract, the latches release even the motor can be heard, but no roof movement. If I wait a while and try again it will work, but who wants to wait a while in a country where the weather can change quicker!?!
My roof is very intermittant when opening & closing, I understand (from reading these forums) that it is probably the 3 microswitch's. Does anyone know where they are and if so how I replace them?
Any and all help appreciated!
Regards,

I have a 99 SLK also and had exactly the same problem - you've probably heard of this mythical batch of bad switches that afflicts the 99 models.
My problems were fixed by the dealer in the 1st year and I think they replaced the 2 in the header rail above the sunvisor although I could be wrong on this. I haven't had any problems since so there is a fix for this.
The link http://www.leiweke.de/slk/dach/dach-elek-detail.htm shows some info about switches - follow links at the bottom.

I read in some histories of this topic there was a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on this problem on '99s. Anyone know where you can get a copy of the TSB?
