Pewter vs. Firemist
I'm currently trying to decide between Pewter and Firemist Red. I previously owned a Black/Charcoal before it got wrecked, and though I loved it, it was impossible to keep clean. Has anyone seen a Pewter car in person yet? And for you Firemist owners, are you happy with it? I've only seen Firemist in photos also and I don't know is it more of a candy apple or a burgundy red? Thanks.

Pewter is appropriately named. It's a dull metallic silver. Advantages: easy to keep clean, not a police magnet
Disadvantages: hard for other drivers to see.

Firemist is probably closer to candy apple red than burgandy. You've got to see it in direct sunlight to appreciate it. Note that it's available on the SL and CLK, so if the dealer doesn't have a firemist SLK, they might have a firemist SL or CLK.
I was considering Firemist Red for my '99 SLK230 Sport but I had never seen it, so I ordered Brilliant Silver. I liked the Silver, but after I had seen a Firemist Red SLK in bright sunlight, I really wished I had ordered Firemist instead. I got the chance when I ordered my '02 SLK32.
