SLK/R170: cracked exhaust

cracked exhaust
hi guys
any one tell me if the exhast manifold on my slk can be welded.mine is cracked near where the downpipe bolts on to the manifold. my irish dealer wants nearly 800 dollars plus fitting!!!!! any help please

cracked it
i rang my brother in boston and he priced it at 600$. it would take 2 weeks to come from germany. i took the manifold off , it is not a cast item, only mild steel. it took a great weld by a local specialst [ he did not charge me for the job it took so little time]
so the score now is me 1------s/dealer 0
thanks to all who bothered to try and help me.my alarm gave the usual water trouble, i was asked for 800 euro about $1,000. my bro bought it in boston for 400$ and posted it to me last week. score now 2---- nil
