Dome Light
New member here. 2001 SLK320. I've seen some references to interior lighting problems, but nothing that sounds exactly like mine. If I leave my dome light slide switch in the 1 position, it stays on all the time. If I put it to the 0 position, it stays off all the time. According to manual, when in the 1 position, the light should come on when a door is opened, and go off when the door is shut. There is a separate switch to manually turn the light on and off. It works fine, as long as the slide switch is in the 0 position. As soon as I move slide switch to 1, light comes on and will not go off.
Seat belt relay seems to be working fine. I get reminder and indicator as expected. Also, if I open each door and manually push the door switch, I can hear the switch relay for each door operating.
I've noticed that trunk light also goes on/off with position of slide switch. Is there is light switch in the trunk that could cause this problem?

Could be a bad door switch. Even if you leave the door open, the light will go out after 5 minutes or so to save the battery. If the door is shut, the light will stay on for a minute and then go off. There is a switch on the trunk lid to tell if it is closed. If you are able to drop the top, then that switch may be good. The dome light time is controled by the PSE module that is part of the pump in the trunk for the central locking and security system. It can get wet and malfuntion.
