SLK/R170: Installing CD Changer
Now I cannot find the power feed. Does anybody have a picture/description to help me determine what I am looking for?
gauge, all black lead(s). well, you already have the changer so should have
an idea of the size of the terminating plug.

That issue is solved, but now comes the fun part. It seems that someone has been fooling around with the cellphone stuff that is on the left side of the trunk. Here is what I found:
1) There is one black box about 4" x 4.5" with part number A 203 820 08 05. It has a 15 pin electrical connector and a fiber connector. The clear-end fiber cable is labeled "HU-IN". The red-end fiber cable in this connector has had the label removed. The other end of this red cable is dangling loose and has a clear end.
2) There is another fiber cable dangling loose. It has a red end and is labeled "HU-OUT".
3) There is another black box, this one about 3.5" x 8.5". It does not have a MB part number - it says "TANAPA: SYN8738A. There is a 25-pin electrical connection at one end, and a fiber port on the side, but there is no fiber cable attached. I am guessing that the 2 loose ends are supposed to go in this port, but I've yet to determine what the 2 black boxes are, so it's hard to say.
4) There is one more fiber connector. It has a single fiber with a red end and is labeled "CDC-OUT". It is not connected to anything.
5) There are a couple more black boxes in this setup, but they have antenna connections, so I am not concerned about them.
On the right side of the trunk where the CD goes, there are 2 fiber connectors:
1) One has a single fiber cable with a clear end and is labeled "HU-IN".
2) The other connector has 2 cables. The one with a red end is labeled "HU-OUT". The one with a clear end is labeled "TEL-IN".
Any assistance in sorting this out will be appreciated. I am not trying to get the cell phone to work, just the CD changer. BTW, the radio works fine.
) which fiber connection to use, just slide the radio out a scootch to confirm that the bright orange fiber
harness is plugged into the head unit.
it should be a different looking terminating plug...like L or J shaped. unplug.
get your buddy over and have him shine laser pointer into one of the exposed
bulbs on the J lead. (CLEAR or RED...no matter)
you head into the rear and see which of the fiber plugs has a glowing bulb.
that's the one to use with your MC3010
i'm not sure what the 'black box' is unless it's something like antenna or AM
amp.....or some amp of sorts. is it black plastic....or is it 'finned' like power
amp?
just blowing smoke....but for some reason, I think Motorola; when I see
a part number with 'SYN8738A' or SYN anything. do you plan to use
the onboard phone feature?
truth in advertising: i am new to MB, having only experienced a drop of
skill since I purchased my 99 E320 2 yrs ago. garage, backyard, weekend
mechanic. iow i have far less knowledge of MB than others on this board.
I dont even know what the model numbers mean on the car other than
E320 and W210.
postscript: lookit what i just found - will this help any?

Looks like black boxes are for telephone and voice control system.
Thanks for the help.
