16" or 17"

I currently have the 16" wheels and considering upgrading the 17" wheels. I wonder how the ride difference is between the 16" and 17"?

not stock.
Honestly, not even worth considering it an upgrade....

if you eant to "upgrade", I would go to something like 18x8 or 18x8.5 front and 18x9 or 9.5 in the back.... with 225/40 front and 265/35 rear rubber, and some sport springs to make it sit nice.

Ride will feel more SPORTY and very very "planted" to the ground.

Now, if your going from the 16s to the 17s, the only big difference you will feel is the lack of movement in sidewall....

There are less tire choices for the 16". My car came with the Michelin Pilot Sport, but Michelin lower the load index to 87. I got the Michelin Primacy and they suck. The Primacy is so loud. I just want a quiet tire that has good handling.

I have put 17's on mine. A big difference in looks. There is a small difference in ride but this could be tyre construction related.
Seems to turn into corners a little better too.
I have 17 x 8 AMG copies with 225/45/17 Federals all around.
The same size drives and handles OK and I can rotate front to rear.

What do mean by small difference in ride? Is your wind screen the same as the one for the S2000 with a bigger glass?

The 17's come standard on the Sport version of the 99' SLK. Really no difference between the 16"s. Tires will make the biggest differnce. A wider tire with a lower profile will make a difference in handling and ride, depending on the brand of tire.
