Need help to start my wrecked SLK230
Hi there, hey guys, I had a roll over on my SLK 230, a year and a half ago, now the body is fixed and it looks good, but im trying to make it run, but it doesnt.
I took out the Gas tank, now its clean. I replaced the Fuel Pump and Filter, but theres no voltage on the fuel pump de line, doest it have a killswitch for the fuel pump?? It also wont crank, it only moves a little then the starter shut.
What can I do?
By the way, all the fuses diagrams are lost, so I dont know if there are fuses missing, where can I find the fuse diagrams?
Please help.
Its a 1998 SLK230
Thanks a lot

Hi,
Try this: Take a postive 4 gauge cable and connect it to your starter, if that won't turn your motor over your motor is hydrolocked, could be from the oil or another fluid.

Hi there! Well, the engine its not locked, it turns when I crank it, but it turns just a little and them the starter shuts. Sometimes it cranks a little more, but again the starter shuts, I think It could be somekind of killswitch because nothing works inside the car, only the hazard flashers and the radio works. When I open the ignition switch nothing displays on the dashboard until I turn the headlights switch. If I close the ignition switch the "ding ding" sound that reminds you to take out the key works good.
So.... what could it be??

Just start with the basics here. That sounds like you have a dead or bad battery, have you tried to jump it? We can go from there. Your best bet is to call the dealership and see if you can get a mechanic on the phone. There are a lot of people on here that know what there talking about but I don't think I have ran accross to many mechanics and my knowledge is also limited on these cars.

Well, the battery is brand new. Actually Im thinking that there could be a big problem causing this. The door handles are gone, and the switchblade key is supposed to have an infrared alarm right? And the sensor is supposed to be on the door handle right? So probably its just the alarm??

The sensor in the door would only be to unlock the doors. If you are getting in the car without the alarm going off, I would say that it is not the alarm. There must be an emergency fuel cut off that has not been reset after the accident.

SLK 230
Thought
I thought that relay would disconnect the electrical systems in case of an accident to reduce the possiblity of fires. If it is your problem, documentation states that it must be replaced it cannot be reset.

Rolled???
You rolled your SLK??
You will probably find problems with it for a long time to come.
You should have just totaled it. I can't imagine the roof or trunk lid will work properly ever again.
