Yep, each code is a unique set of 5 digits for the car it was originally fitted to. My MB dealer gave it to me over the phone as I have my car serviced there so after proving who I was on the phone they read me out the code.

You may already have the code
If you had your car serviced at a Mercedes dealer, check your invoice. The code may be printed on it (as it may be needed by the the service techs).
