SLK/R170: Trunk Lock Question

Trunk Lock Question
2002 SLK 320...Is there a feature that allows for automatic locking of the trunk when door locks are activated via the key fob, or is the lack of this feature normal. Unles I've overlooked it, I can't find any documentation in the owners manual addressing the issue.

Trunk Locks
I also accidently discovered that the console locks when you lock the doors with the remote which I thought was a great idea. I was always concerned when parking and leaving the top down that people could reach in and get into the console so I never left anything in it. But one day, after locking the car with the top down, I reached back into the car to leave my sunglasses in the console only to find it locked along with the doors.

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it. I have noticed the console locking, and I also know the doors lock when I lock the trunk with the key, but the trunk will not lock when I lock the doors with the key fob. Looks like a trip to my local repair shop is in order.

I can literally hear my trunk locking when I lock the doors with the fob (when I'm at the rear of the car, that is.) So you've got a malfunction.
Personally, I'd just lock and unlock the trunk with the key. But that's only because I know how expen$ive Mercedes repairs can be...

As far as I know, you can control whether the trunk to be locked together with the central locking system. Put the key in the trunk lock and turn it clockwise, then pull out the key, this way the trunk is on its own. Doing the reverse by turning the key counter clockwise, the trunk will be controlled by the central locking unit.

IIRC the remote can be programmed to either 1) unlock the driver's door on the first key press and unlock the passanger's door and trunk on the second press or 2) unlock all with just one key press. Instructions how to program are in the manual. Is yours programmed for two key presses?
