CD Changes option for 2002 SLK230

I hate the idea of paying $800 for a 6 CD-Changer. I know you can get the changer for $400 and do a self-install but I worry about warranty work etc. I also would like higher capacity. So, I'm looking for alternatives.

Has anyone use an RF modulater changer model that plays through the radio? If so, what is the sound like? There's a Sony model that uses the RF approach that's pretty cool. It holds 10 CDs and the CDs can be encoded in the MP# format. Give the ability to fit 8-10 times more on an MP3 CD, it's like having a 80-100 CD changer!

Any other ideas on adding CD capability to my SLK230?

Thanks,
Sandro.

Ebay

I can’t help much with regards to expanded capacity, but I can suggest that you check Ebay for a reasonably priced changer. I recently purchased a CD changer (fiber optic) and bracket for my SLK320 on Ebay. Both work great! If you do this, be sure to purchase the correct bracket to fit the CD changer (probably the smaller bracket).

Question

I was just wondering, instead of putting a 6-disc cd changer in the trunk, can you get a 6 disc cd/dvd changer? i know you can put single dvd's behind the screne but it'll be cool if you could put all your movies in at once

The problem always comes back to interfacing the non-MB DVD/CD changer to the prorietary MB interface. I have to say, I love my SLK but the desing (no quality, just design) of the audio system is STUPID. First, why, oh why, would any 2002 vehicle, especially one that costs 40K come with a casette deck. Even if you had a changer, the convenience of an in-dsh CD is unbeatable. Then there's the fiber-optic changer interface ...
Sorry, just venting!

Sandro.
