Intro - Added SLK to family
Joining forum now - although I have spent a lot of time viewing posts from slk320 owners, as I spend all the time underneath my CLK320 (according to my g/f - who was angry about it until I bought this SLK230. Bazzle, I should have thanked you a long time ago for saving me a lot of diagnostic time with your frequent, and detailed (and, most importantly, accurate) posts. I've spent some of this weekend browsing WIS on the SLK230, and I have some familiarity with the chassis as my first real resource was an online Crossfire manual ( http://www.gleamingedge.com/mirrors/...e%20Manual.pdf ), which shares my CLK's driveline.
The "new" car is a '99 230, 69K w/ the AMG "Sport" pkg. Apparently mostly am appearance package, but I do like some of the details (door sills!). The car is much for fun to drive than I would have imagined. Much "tighter" than the CLK. Probably doesn't hurt that I got it from the original owner, who did an amazing job of maintaining it, with all books and records from the dealer (spent last night looking at them - last service was because of a crack beside the cig lighter insert - $1100!!!!). I'll be doing all the service on this car, and hopefully will some value as a contributor. I replaced the trunk and hood struts this morning (note to self: broomstick ineffective support method for 200lb. hood), and if it weren't so unseasonably cold here, I'd be out crawling around under it now.
