SLK/R170: Ash Tray Problem

Ash Tray Problem
I know this is not a huge problem, but it drives my wife crazy. She has a 2001 SLK 320. The ash tray will not stay locked in the closed position. It slides normally but will not latch closed. I can not figure out how to remove it to repair or replace.
Dealer said they could replace it for $800..........it is not that big a problem.

Ashtray Housing Assembly
They just told me $800 to fix my ashtray with the same problem...won't close. BUT...I asked them how much they would charge me if I could find the "ashtray assembly"...and they said $150. Sweet.
Now the only problem is...where do I find an obscure part like an ashtray assembly for an 8 year old car (SLK-320, 2001 here).
Anyone have any ideas?
