SLK/R170: Dissasembling side mirrors - help needed, please!

Dissasembling side mirrors - help needed, please!
I have removed the driver's side mirror on our '01 SLK230, and I need to take it apart to fix something the dealer did wrong a while ago. The mirror is lying on my desk.
I have removed two small screws in the triangular body painted piece that goes against the car. This loosens that piece from the internal mirror frame (angled metal piece where all the mirror components seem to be mounted to). What is the next step to taking the mirror apart? Removing the glass? I can't see another way.
What I want to do is reposition the triangular plastic piece, since the dealer misaligned it when they fixed something a long time ago. If I can fix it myself, this will save a lot of time and hassle of making appointment, getting lift to work etc, etc.
If some guru can post very specific instructions on dissasebly and reassembly, I would greatly appreciate it.
