Inspection Issue

I took my '01 slk320 out of storage two weeks ago. I always disconnect the battery when I store the car, so obviously I hooked it back up. I drove the car about 60 miles and then it sat until today when I fired it up and drove it about 8 miles to an inspection station. The car did not pass inspection and was issed a "not ready" report. The mechanic said to fill it with gas, drive it around for about a 1/4 of a tank and come back, he said something about the computer needing to reset. Shouldn't it have had time to reset on the first 60 mile trip I took? Will it be as simple as just driving it around awhile? Just curious if anyone has heard of this or gone through something similar. Thanks, in advance.

Just driving it 8 miles to the inspection station may not have warmed it up enough. Might drive it for 50 miles and then pull in to the inspection station and keep it running.
