CEL P0170
Hoping when I start the baby benz this morning the CEL light is off. Roadside said to hold down "cancel" button for three seconds when turning car on and it should reset in a few days.
When I turn the car off, the last movement is a small shaking of the engine, is this normal?
Found this car a month ago. Arizona lady driver had only 27,500 miles on a 99... incredible! I bought a 2000 and it saved my life when I crashed on the freeway.
thanks

That code usually means the MAF is dirty or possibly deffective. Use some MAF sensor cleaner on the tip of the MAF insert (take MAF off, take insert off and spray tip with full force of spray). It can also be a vacuum leak.
Use an OBDII scanner to reset the CEL. Never heard of the hit cancel button for 3 seconds trick, sounds like an urban legend. Even if you reset it without fixing the problem it will just come back in a few miles of driving.
Small shake does not sound normal but high probability that it's P0170 related.

code 0171 and 1073 MAF
I got these codes 0170 and 1073 and went ahead and replaced the new MAF then cleared the code. A few days later, the CEL came on again. I reset using my ODBII and the same code show up again after a few days.
Any thoughts or comments???
Oh... and I notice my gas mileage is getting worst.
Could these code be the Fuel pump or fuel filter??
Please help. thanks.

I'll assume you got an MB MAF and not junk off ebay. It could still be the MAF, so disconnect it, clear codes and see if the P0170/173 come back (you will obviously get a MAF code but that's OK). If the P0170 persists, then it's not the MAF and you have a vacuum leak somewhere. The dealer has a way to inject smoke into the system and find the leak that way. You can go old school and use an unlit propane torch to isolate the leak (the engine idle will go up when it sucks in the propane).

I had reset a few times already and the same code show up again. P0173 and P0170. Is there a need to reset the battery to reset this code?
Where is the vaccum leak located? I had a 1999 clk430.
Thanks for the tips.
