SLK/R170: battery caught on fire and roasted some stuff..help!!

1998 Mercedes Benz SLK 230 AMG
battery caught on fire and roasted some stuff..help!!
last night my brother came in and got me and said my car was smoking. i run outside and from under the hood it is pluming smoke i open it up and the battery is on fire burning very badly. my problem is, i cant seem to find out what that unit that sits to the right of the battery when looking straight on at the car is? it got burnt to **** and has all the wires and **** running through it. it is some sort of fiber made box. can someone please help me with this issue. i am at my wits end. thanks.

That box (if you lift off the lid) contains most of the electronics to run the car, ecm, k40 etc etc

Best ring your insurance co..
