Yes, I replaced the driver's side mirror. You might not like the way I did it. I priced a new mirror (just the mirror module, not the whole mirror assembly) with the auto-dimming in it as it came on the SLK230, 1999 model. It was somewhere in the $350 to $400 range. I took it to the local glass shop and had them cut one of their mirror scraps to the exact size of the old one and glued it in. Works great but of course, does not dim nor is it heated like the original. Total cost--$15 plus sales tax and the glue cost. To me, the auto-dimming feature just was not worth the cost involved but others probably may not agree.
As far as the mirror inside the car, I have heard about a replacement from the manufacturer but I know nothing about it. It still works great on my car.
