2003 slk 230, opinion about price...

as you may know,I am still on the outlook for a slk 230.

I found one online,its a 2003,slk 230, with 52400 miles.

Asking price from dealer is $ 16.950

Its a ncice black one, with 2 tone color.Black and Light tan color.

looks in brilliant condition.
I have no information if it has any warranty and what not.

But is the price fair or should I go down with it?

Here is the link, its the first one from the top :

Looks very nice. You can check pricing info at kbb.com or edmunds.com or nadaguides.com (don't know which is more popular to use in your area). Used car prices have dropped sharply because people got in over their heads on leases and new cars and are losing their houses (heard on the news last night that 1,300 houses are repo'ed each day, cars repo's must be higher. On top of that, new car sales are way down so dealers are dropping prices on new cars drastically, heck you can probably get 10K off on a new SLK280. This trickles down so even older cars are affected. The price looks good to me but they are changing so quickly and prices are different regionally that nobody here can give you an honest price. I use the KBB.com private party sale price to get an idea.

Also, MB's are finicky cars that are expensive to repair so make sure you look the car over very well and make sure everything works or have a mechanic you trust do so. Don't take anything for granted, a broken turn signal can be a $1,000+ repair. When you make that list of things wrong, take it to an MB dealer and see what they want to repair it, that will give you negotiating power.
