slk audio system?
Hi Everyone, First time at this site. Just found it. I recently purchased a new yellow 2002 slk 320. I love it except for the radio/cd system. The sound is terrible. It sounds close to an old MG I had in 1972. Maybe it is designed that way to make you feel like you are in an old sports cars. Anyways I checked with a local car audio house and I was given a quote of $2500 just to add a sub woofer. I am not trying to play rap music with tons of bass but a good solid clean sound.
i was told the problem is that the Bose speakers are amped seperate thus you can't just change out the speakers. Has anyone out there upgraded their audio system. It is especially a problem with the top down. please e mail me at phahn@palomar.edu
Thanks
Pat

If you have the Mercedes phone, you need to keep the factory head unit in order to use the integrated hands free and voice-activation features. Otherwise, just replace the head unit, amp and speakers with anything you like. It'll cost alot less than $2500.
